My Dear Dr. Schwartz:

In response to your letter from the 18th of May in which you state that you are confused as to whom you should contact regarding questions and uncertainties relating to Lubavitch. Let me clarify the roles and responsibilities of my sons-in-law and of Rabbi Benjamin Gorodetzky.

Upon my arrival in this country in March of 1940, I assigned the responsibility of Yeshivat Tomchei Temimim to my son-in-law Rabbi Samarious Gurary. He is responsible for fundraising as well as administrating the Yeshiva. My son-in-law Rabbi Menachem Mendel, is responsible for the publishing division known as Kehot as well as development of youth educational programs. They were each given specific responsibilities which do not contradict with each other. Rabbi Benjamin Gorodetzky is responsible for European related issues. My hope and dream is for all of them to continue their duties for years to come.

במענה על מכתבו מה-18 במאי בו מציין כי הוא מבולבל באשר למי עליו לפנות בכל השייך לליובאוויטש. ברצוני לבאר בזה את סמכותם של חתניי ושל הרב בנימין גורודצקי.

עם הגיעי למדינה זו במארט 1940 הפקדתי את הסמכות על ישיבת תומכי תמימים בידי חתני הרב שמרי' גורארי', הוא האחראי על השגת התקציב וניהול הישיבה. חתני הרב מנחם מענדל הוא אחראי על מחלקת ההוצאה לאור הידועה בשם "קה"ת" וגם לפיתוח תוכניות חינוכיות לנוער. לכל אחד מהם ניתנו סמכויות ספציפיות שאינן סותרות האחת את השניה. הרב בנימין גורודצקי הוא האחראי על הענינים הקשורים עם אירופה. התקוה והאיווי שכל אחד מהם ימשיך את תפקידיו לשנים הבאות.
